There will be funeral services at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Luke Church for Rocco Melia, 92, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018. He was born July 24, 1925 in Reggio Calabria, Italy, the son of Giuseppe and Francesca Melia. He served in the Italian Army. Rocco worked on his farm and learned his trade of bricklayer in Italy. He immigrated to the United States in 1953 to join his father. He was a member of St. Luke Church and the Bricklayers Local No. 8 for 52 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening. He loved playing the accordion. His wife, the former Mary E. Buffone whom he married in 1957, passed away in 2008. Rocco will always be remembered lovingly by his two sons. Michael (Michele) Melia, and Joseph Melia; two granddaughters, Nicole and Angela Melia; and numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Giuseppina (Ben) Eagan. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
