Joseph (Italo) R. Rendano
STRUTHERS – “To honor our father’s wishes, private services were held Saturday, May 6, 2017, for Joseph (Italo) Rendano, 88, son of Victor and Isabelle (Modarelli) Rendano.”
Joseph was born Oct. 24, 1928, in Girard, moving to Youngstown at the age of three, and remained a proud Youngstown resident the rest of his life.
He was a devout member of St. Dominic Church.
Joseph graduated from South High School, class of 1947.
He proudly served his country in U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea, where he also was a boxer. After being honorably discharged, he came home to work with his father at his jewelry store, Rendano Jewelers in downtown Youngstown. He went on to work for TrusCon Steel Company, and then joined his childhood and lifelong friend, Bob Zabel, to work at W.C. Zabel Co., where he was a salesman for many years.
Joe married his beloved bride, Shirley Caldwell, on Dec. 1, 1951, and they had many adventures with family and friends. His children will always cherish those memories and friendships.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, on April 20, 2015; his brother, Ralph and his wife, Victoria; sister-in-law Janice Richards; brothers-in-law Richard Caldwell, Richard Cramer, John Kovach, and John Richards; and nephews Victor J Rendano and John Kovach.
Joe will be remembered with immense love by his children, Robert of Youngstown, Joseph (Toni) of Venice, Fla., Laura (Tom) Duffy of Austintown, and Lisa (Gary) Mudryk of Struthers, with whom he resided with for the last year. He will also be missed by his beloved grandchildren, Tommy (Bri), Scott, Erin, Anthony and Gary; great-granddaughter Brynnley; sisters-in-law Ruth Cramer and Nancy Kovach; brother-in-law Ralph (Terry-Ann) Caldwell; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Joseph will be dearly missed and the family would like to express their heartfelt thanks for all the kindness shown to him.
Arrangements were entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
