POLAND – Kathryn E. Stump Scriven, 89, passed away on Monday, Dec. 24, 2018, at her home.
Kathryn was born in Crestline, on March 24, 1929, the daughter of the late Clarence Stump and the late Mae Horning.
Kathryn was a director of student records at North Central College in Mansfield, the vice president of student affairs at Rosary Hill College in Buffalo, the dean of students at College of St. Francis of Joliet Ill. She was a Sister of St. Francis of Mary Immaculata of Joliet Ill. for over 31 years. She was a devout member of the Holy Family Church in Poland.
She was married to Dr. James A. Scriven Jr. on Nov. 29, 1980. He passed away on Sept. 13, 2009.
She loved the outdoors and even started a craft business called “Nature and Me.” She was a kind soul, always helping others in their time of need.
She is survived by her four nephews, Bill Davis of Las Vegas, Joe (Rita) Frye of Shelby, Greg (Jackie) Stump of Schomburg, Ill., and Jeff (Lyndy) Stump of Oakview, Calif.; three nieces, Rita Frye of Otway, Jane (Michael) Hause of Pickerington, and Lynn Deal of Nashville, Tenn.; and her best friends whom she considered her family, William and Martha Countryman of Poland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dr. James a. Scriven Jr.; and a nephew, Rick A. Stump.
She was a woman of diverse backgrounds and possessing a myriad of interest. Kathyrn has begun what might be described as the “last leg” of this marvelous journey we call life, as she entered into eternal life on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2018.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held today Dec. 27, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Church in Poland officiated by Msgr. William Connell. She will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery in Crestline.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name can be made to MVI Hospice Care, 4891 Belmont Ave. Youngstown, OH 44505.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
