Obituary for Gerald H. "Jerry" Leonard

Boardman—There will be funeral services at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 8, 2018, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman, followed by a 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Luke Church in Boardman for Gerald H. “Jerry” Leonard, 80, who passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018. He was born July 14, 1938, in Farrell, Pa., the son of Stanley and Mary (Virostick) Leonard. Jerry courageously served his country in the U.S. Army. Jerry was a graduate of Youngstown State University and the University of Pittsburgh School of Physical Therapy. He was self-employed as a physical therapist for 50 years, working at Diamond Head, Easter Seals, and Ron Joy. He was a member of St. Luke Church, it’s Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, festival committee, bingo volunteer, golf league, weekend collection counter, Eucharistic Minister, and attended daily Mass and the Martha and Mary Coffee Group. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed golfing. Jerry will always be remembered lovingly by his wife, Priscella (Sekowski) whom he married on August 26, 1961; three sons, Robert (Kelly) Leonard, David (Jennifer) Leonard, and James (Amy) Leonard; nine grandchildren, Allison, Thomas, Kathryn, Andrew, Julia, Jack, Luke, Emily, and Zachary; sister, Frances Moretti; and brother, Eugene (Angeline) Leonard; sister-in-law, Nancy Sekowski; and brother-in-law, Ray (Norita) Sekowski. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Thomas Leonard. Friends may pay their respects from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018 at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family to be distributed amongst Jerry’s favorite charities.
