Obituary for Carmel Ferranti

Print
Carmel Ferranti, 97, a loving daughter, wife, mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 1, 2018. She was born Sept. 2, 1921 in Youngstown, the daughter of Venturo and Lena (Pincer) DiMartino. She was a graduate of East High School where she met her husband Joseph “Jay” Ferranti. They were married in California while he served our country at sea during WWII. They returned to Boardman where she became an excellent homemaker and was very involved with her family. She was a wonderful Italian cook, gardener and a mom to four busy children. Carmel loved sports. She was an avid Indians and Browns fan, bowler, and bingo player. For the last few years, you could find her with her radio listening to sports and talk shows. She was a member of St. Luke Church. Carmel will always be remembered lovingly by her three children, Janice Foster of Boardman, Robert (Barb) Ferranti of Boardman, and James (Debbie) Ferranti of Boardman; three grandchildren, Michael Ferranti of Boardman, Corinne Scrocco of Canfield, and Rebecca Bleggi of Chicago; two great-grandchildren, Sienna and Drew Scrocco. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by son, Ronald J. Ferranti; brother, Anthony DiMartino; and son-in-law, Gib Foster. Family and friends may pay their respects from 9 to 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018 at St. Luke Church in Boardman followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests contributions be made in Carmel’s name to the Smile Force Fund at Assumption Village, 9800 Market Street, North Lima, OH. 44452.
