Youngstown—Private services were held for Lenora Marie Freedy, 68, who passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 19, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, following a long illness. She was born August 24, 1949, in Youngstown, the daughter of Manuel and Katherine (Speizale) Nunez. She was a 1967 graduate of Struthers High School. During her youth she was an avid jack and chess player. She won championships in the Youngstown area playground association for jacks and checkers. She began her career of 40 years at Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield where she served many positions including supervisory. She was also an Avon representative for 30 years. Lenora will be remembered as a loving wife and mother. She always put her family first and enjoyed spending time with them. She was passionate about collecting Betty Boop dolls and Boyd’s Bears. Lenora will always be remembered lovingly by her husband of 49 years, Ronald Freedy, whom she married September 12, 1969; two sons, Ronald Freedy Jr. (fiancée Angie Laboy), and Bryon (Marci) Freedy; three grandchildren, Kendra, Carter, and Mason; two sisters, Elaine (Bill) Smith, and Laurie Ann Nunez; brother, Ralph (Loretta) Nunez; two nieces; and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of the Valley and Comfort Keepers for their wonderful care and support during Lenora’s illness.
