Obituary for Judith M. (Falconi) Magielski

Judith M. (Falconi) Magielski
BOARDMAN – It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Judith M. (Falconi) Magielski, 72. Judith peacefully went to be with the Lord on June 17, 2018, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Judith was born Sept. 14, 1945, in Youngstown, to the late Joseph R. Falconi, Sr. and Ruth Montella Eddy.
She was a 1963 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Education from Youngstown State in 1968 and her master’s degree in Education from Youngstown State in 1970. She earned an additional master’s in Religious Education from Loyola University in New Orleans in 1996.
Judith spent her entire 43-year career as a beloved teacher and mentor. Her teaching career began at St. Christine’s School in Youngstown. She then moved to Jackson Milton Schools where she taught from 1965 to 1977, serving as the President of the Teacher’s Association while there. She began her second career in 1986 by serving as a Director of Religious Education (DRE).
She faithfully served as DRE of St. Stanislaus, St. Patrick’s and St. Charles Churches, retiring in 2007 from St. Charles. Judith was devoted to volunteer ministry, working with Baptismal preparation and with Children’s Formation programs. She had a passion and gift for teaching children and young Christians, forming many strong bonds and touching countless lives through her ministry. She was also a volunteer or member in many additional organizations, too numerous to mention.
At home, Judith was an avid cook and gardener and found great joy in both activities. She was always in the kitchen, tirelessly preparing meals for her family and extended family. She was the matriarch of the family and served as an amazing example of a self-less and devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend. Her favorite time in recent years was being with her five grandchildren and being “Nona.” She cherished them and was always giving and teaching them, baking and creating games and crafts for them to enjoy. She made incredible memories with them that will be valued forever.
Judith will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, Joseph, whom she married 44 years ago; her three children, Joseph Jr. of Boardman, Stanley (Melissa) of North Lima, and Ann Marie (Josh) Weinberger of Wadsworth; her grandchildren; Stanley, Jr. and Lillyana Magielski, Olivia and Alexander Weinberger and Preston Joseph Harness; her sisters, Nancy (George) Sinchak of Austintown, Mary (Jim) Zirkel of Antioch, Calif.; her brother, David (Karen) Falconi of Hubbard; her many nieces and nephews; and all of her extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents Steve and Mary Montella and Louis and Rose Falconi; and her brother, Joseph Falconi Jr.
“Judith will forever remain in our hearts.”
Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman. The family will receive relatives and friends at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, June 22, at the funeral home prior to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 1410 Oak Hill Ave.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations in Judith’s name be sent to Hope Lodge, 11432 Mayfield Road, Cleveland OH 44106.
