Youngstown—Gladys E. Torres, 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 7, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 10, 1935, in Puerto Rico, the daughter of Serafin Maldonado and Belen Acevedo. Gladys was a homemaker and loved to cook for her family and friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Her home was always open to everyone. She was a member of St. Patrick Church in Youngstown. Gladys will always be remembered lovingly by her husband, Jose Torres Sr., whom she married Jan. 3, 1953; five children, Awilda Torres of Youngstown, Jose (Doris) Torres of Boardman, Orlando Torres, Maria E. Torres, and James Torres, all of Youngstown; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2018, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman, followed by a 7 p.m. funeral service with Rev. Edward P. Noga officiating. In lieu of flowers, as suggested by her family, memorial contributions can be made to the family who will determine an appropriate charity of remembrance.
