Obituary for Daniel J. Davanzo
Private services were held for Daniel J. Davanzo, 82, who passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 25, 2018. He was born Sept. 26, 1935, in Youngstown, the son of Antonio and Maria Davanzo. Daniel graduated from East High School in 1954, where he lettered in football. He was inducted into the 1996 East High School Football Hall of Fame. Daniel retired from ODOT in 1990 after 20 years of service. He also worked for Strouss in the furniture department. He was a member of St. Angela Merici Church. His wife and love of his life, the former Patricia Casey, whom he married June 21, 1957, passed away Aug. 29, 2011. In his spare time, Daniel enjoyed dancing, game shows, and site seeing. He will always be remembered lovingly by his two children, Danette (Jim) Fisher of Boardman, and David J. Davanzo of Salem; sister, Katherine Young of New Middletown; companion, Marie Tomocik; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by grandson, Daniel Davanzo; and four brothers, Anthony, Frank, James and John. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
