Lorena M. "Lori" (Lemke) Bartos
Lorena "Lori" M. (Lemke) Bartos, 83, formerly of Poland, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at the home of her daughter, Paula Berndt, after a long battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 10, 1934, in Youngstown, the daughter of Arthur and Minnie Lemke. She was a graduate of South High School Class of 1952 and that same year began a job at G.F. Business Equipment as a typist. After devoting many years to raising her children, she re-joined the workforce as a temp for Kelly Services, and then went on to work at General Electric Austintown Coil Plant as a manufacturing engineering clerk. She married John A. Bartos, formerly of Lorain, in 1983 and they lived in Lorain until the 1990's. She then moved back to the area to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She was an avid roller skater and Cleveland Indians super fan. She worked for her son, John Berndt at his restaurant, Johnny's for many years where she was known for her incredible pies and cakes. She is survived by son, John (Kristy) Berndt of Poland; daughter, Paula Berndt of Boardman; and three grandchildren, John, Katie, and Megan Berndt of Poland. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by son, Mark T. Berndt; two brothers, Arthur Lemke and Harold "Butch" Lemke; and sister, Carol Yungen. The family would like to thank MVI Hospice Care for their tremendous help and comfort in caring for Lorena. Friends may call from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. funeral service on Monday, March 5, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
