Rocco  Mediate
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 5, 2018, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio celebrating for Rocco Anthony Mediate, 83, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018. He was born August 20, 1934, in Catanzaro, Provincia di Reggio Calabria, Italy, the son of Vincenzo and Rose (Feo) Mediate. Rocco graduated from Bessemer High School in 1952, and earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Youngstown College. He was a member of Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity. He retired from YSU where he was Director of Facilities Maintenance and also taught courses in the mechanical engineering technology department. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica. Rocco will always be remembered lovingly by his wife, the former Annamarie Colla, whom he married in 1992; son, Vince (Diane) Mediate; daughter, Vicki (Joe) Antenucci; four grandchildren, Lauren (Louise) Fink of Davis, CA, Julia, Rocco, and Race Mediate; three step-children, Michael (Rachael) Grappo of Boston, Marie Grappo, and Caroline (Ron) Angelilli; seven step-grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanne (Bob) Dovich, and Mary (Frank) Tarantine; two sisters-in-law, Anita Mediate, and Yolanda Hanuschak; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Lauretta Ignazio; brother Anthony Mediate; and two sisters, Nellie Lellio and Antoinette "Nettie" Mediate. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Avenue in Boardman.
