Obituary for Lennard L. Burke

There will be funeral services at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Columba Cathedral with the Very Rev. Msgr. Peter M. Polando celebrating the Mass for Lennard L. Burke, 49, who passed away on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Dec. 25, 1968, in Youngstown the son of Cherill Stankorb. Lennard was a graduate of Chaney High School and Y.S.U., where he was a member of the Epsilon Iota Chapter of Tau Kappa. He was a Mahoning County Sheriff Deputy working in field operations. He loved his job on patrol. Lennard retired after 22 years of service. He was a member of F.O.P. No. 141 and a proud member of the Downtown Y.M.C.A. In his spare time, he liked trail running in the park, riding his Yamaha V-Star Motorcycle, and watching sports, especially the Buckeyes and Browns. Most of all, Lennard enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandson, by the pool. He will always be remembered lovingly by his wife and best friend, the former Marta Anne Poluse, whom he married April 15, 2016; his mother; three children, Lennard Burke Jr. of Struthers, Austin Burke (Katelyn Mitcheltree)of Boardman, and Gabriella Burke of Struthers, grandson, Mason Burke; two brothers, Anthony (Jason) Slocum of Dublin, and Larry-Ray Stankorb of Struthers; sister, Nadine (Matt) Stankorb of Hamilton; two nieces, Jessica (Jimmy) Chabot, and Allison (Justin) Filek; great-niece, Jewlionna Filek; in-laws, Kevin J. and Janet Johnson; and his dog, "Tank." Friends may call from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Avenue in Boardman, where a Cursillo service will be held at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made to his family.
