Obituary for Michael J. Philibin

POLAND – There will be funeral services at 9 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul the Apostle Church in New Middletown, with the Rev. Larry Frient officiating the Mass for Michael J. Philibin, 64, who passed away Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 25, 1953, in Youngstown, the son of Henry J. and Mary Jane (Sedlak) Philibin.
Michael was a graduate of Struthers High School. He worked as a millwright for R.M.I. Titanium, briefly worked at Edge Seal Technologies in Youngstown, and also at Borden Dairy for 25 years.
He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church, Teamsters Union No. 377, and Steelworkers Union Local No. 2155. Michael enjoyed cooking, grilling, and smoking meats. He also enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, and the outdoors, especially gardening and doing yard work. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Michael will always be remembered lovingly by his wife, the former Karen Tama, whom he married Aug. 13, 1983; son Michael (Maghan) Philibin of Athens; two brothers, Richard (Kathy) Philibin of Plainesville, Ill., and Kenneth Philibin (Regina Winters), of Tallahassee, Fla.; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his beloved dog, Hank.
He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Frank M. and Anne D. Tama.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 28, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
In lieu of flowers, monetary contributions may be made to the family to be distributed amongst Michael's favorite charities.
