Obituary for Francis L. "Frank" Sammarone

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017 at SS. Peter and Paul Church with Rev. Joseph Rudjak celebrating the Mass for Francis L. "Frank" Sammarone, 86, who passed away Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 6, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Frank was born March 23, 1931 in Youngstown, the son of Anthony and Mary (Basile) Sammarone. Frank worked as a supervisor at Golden Glow Dairy on Logan Avenue in Youngstown where they made fabulous ice cream. For the remainder of his career, he was affiliated with Teamster Local 377, working for the A&P Company and Construction, never missing a days work. Frank loved spending time with his wife and daughter. He enjoyed John Wayne and western movies and working outdoors in his yard. Frank was a very generous man and always willing to lend a helping hand. Frank had six beautiful sisters; Carmel (Frank) Sainato, Pauline (Jim) Perry, Nunie Sammarone, Rose Marie (Peter) Fabek, Louise (Reese) WIlliams and Clara (Tom) Karabin; and two wonderful brothers, Anthony "Dooney" (Dorothy) and Charles "Chuck" (Mary Ann) Sammarone; and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins that enriched his life. Frank was a wonderful husband, father, uncle and friend. Frank leaves to cherish his memory his wife Victoria (Fabek) whom he married Sept. 8, 1951; his daughter Debra; brother Charles; and sisters, Louise and Clara. Frank leaves a legacy of humor and strength and his presence will be greatly missed. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of the Mass on Monday, Sept. 11 at SS. Peter and Paul Church, 421 Covington Street in Youngstown. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Avenue in Boardman. Family and friends may visit the Book of Memories at www.rossifunerals.com to view this tribute and send condolences to Frank's family.
