Obituary for Harry J. Franklin

Harry J. Franklin
Harry J. Franklin, 76, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2017. He was born December 6, 1940 in Youngstown, the son of Harry and Gilberta Franklin. Harry worked at NCR Corporation for over 35 years. He served in the U.S Army and was a member of St. Luke Church. He was very active in the church where he volunteered his time with several different ministries, such as the RCIA program, Baptismal Preparation, Men’s Renewal, Cursillo, Leader of Prayer, and was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. In his spare time, Harry enjoyed spending time with family and friends, golfing, reading, playing cards, making wine, and vacationing. To all who knew him, Harry was a loyal friend who would drop everything in order to repair a friend’s car or household appliance. The highlight of his retirement was the cruise to Italy and other places in Europe in 2007, which he took with his wife. Harry will always be remembered lovingly by his wife the former Jackie Palatinus whom he married on June 4, 1966; 4 children, Laura (Erik) Blohm of Garrettsville, David (Kerwin) Franklin of Scottsdale, AZ, Paul (Tonda) Franklin of Tuscon, AZ, and Mark (Heather) Franklin of Fort Worth, TX; 14 grandchildren, Luke, Lenci, Allee, Serena, and Isabella Blohm, Mac, Anthony, Cole, Jack, and Haydon Franklin, Olivia and Kiah Franklin, and Harrison and John Franklin. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Charles and James and sisters Margaret and Rosemary. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday July 2 at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, followed by an 8 p.m. Cursillo Bible Service. A Memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 3 at St. Luke Church in Boardman. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Harry’s name to MVI Hospice Care of Youngstown, or to the Alzheimers Network in Youngstown.
