Obituary for Frank "Doc" Damiano Sr., D.P.M.

Frank "Doc"  Damiano Sr., D.P.M.
Major Frank Damiano Sr., D.P.M., 96, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon on March 19, 2017. Frank was born Jan. 18, 1921 in Youngstown, the son of Vincent and Angelina (Colla) Damiano. Frank was a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine and operated his own practice in Youngstown. Frank faithfully and courageously served during WWII with the Army Air Corp, stationend in England and France. During his years of service as a fighter pilot, Frank flew seven missions in his P47 Thunder Bolt plane. He later served as a test pilot for other planes. Following his retirement from the Army Air Corp., Frank served for twenty years in the Reserves, stationed in Vienna, retiring as a Major. Frank was a member of St. Dominic Church and was a founding member of Wolves Den VI and was a past treasurer for 18 years. Frank's wife, Emma (Pasquale) , whom he married June 10, 1950, passed away January 16, 1995. Frank will be remembered lovingly by his three children, Frank (Debbie) Damiano of Youngstown, Christine (Rey) Notareschi of Poland, and Marie (John) Cullen of Boardman; seven grandchildren, Nicole (Rob) Zabel, Natalie (Marc) Sikora, Genna and Vince Notareschi, Marissa, Christine, and Lisa Cullen; and four great grandchildren, Rocco, Frankie, Leo, and Evelyn. Besides his parents and wife, Frank was preceded in death by a son, Vincent Damiano; granddaughter Lisa Notareschi; and eight sisters and brothers, Vincent Damiano, Rose Mullarkey, Nick, Samuel, and Angeline Damiano, Josephine Williams, Anthony Damon, and Philip Damiano. There will be a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Boardman with Rev, Marian Babjak celebrating the Mass for Frank. Friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of the Mass at St. Charles Church. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests any monetary donations be made in Frank's name to The Wolves Club Scholarship and Charitable Trust, P.O. Box 9021, Boardman, OH 44513. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Avenue in Boardman.
