BOARDMAN - There will be a funeral service at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Christine Church, 3165 Schenley Ave., in Youngstown, for Samuel T. Fasline Sr., 90, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 19, 2017.
He was born April 13, 1926, in Youngstown, the son of Sabatino and Maria (Fusco) Fasline.
He courageously served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Samuel worked as head court reporter for the City of Youngstown, and maintained a private practice after his retirement.
His wife, the former Anna Marie Puskar, whom he married May 10, 1952, passed away Dec. 1, 1994.
He volunteered at Leonard Kirtz School, where he received the John Vitullo Service Award. He also volunteered at Radio Reading, Dorothy Day House, Ohio Reads Program, St. Christine Bereavement Luncheon Staff, East High Boosters, and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Basilica Vestibule Club and festival.
He was a member of the Y.M.C.A. and enjoyed dancing at Kuzman’s. Samuel was a boxer, and went by the name “Kid Felice.”
Samuel will always be remembered lovingly by his five children, Sam T. Fasline Jr. of Boardman, Judith Lynn Fasline of Poland, Mary Beth (Joseph) Pipino of Poland, Anthony Fasline of Youngstown, and Thomas Fasline of Boardman; two grandchildren, Candee (Corey) Shaner, and Donald Pipino; and three great-grandsons, Luca, Reed, and Dane.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Angeline Higel, Antoinette Daniels, Sarefeno and Rachel Fasline; and three brothers, Antonio, Frank and Rev. Anthony Fasline.
Friends may call on Tuesday, March 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests contributions be made in Samuel’s name to Dorothy Day House, 620 Belmont Ave., Youngstown, OH 44502.
