Obituary for Cecelia Frances Polito

Cecelia Frances Polito
Cecelia Frances Polito, 87, daughter of Joseph and Helen Pastor Katona, was called home to the Lord, Saturday, March 11, 2017, surrounded by her family. Cecelia was raised by Joseph and Elizabeth Gabri Katona (Stepmother) in South Connellsville, PA. She married Bruno Polito on May 26, 1962, and resided in Poland, Ohio. Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Maria Medina (John) of Poland, Loni Krawchyk (Ken) of Poland, Roxanne Shaffer (Fred) of Columbus, and son Rocky of Michigan. She also leaves eight beautiful grandchildren who lovingly called her Bamaw: Jenna Forte (Ron), who are expecting Bamaw’s first future great-granddaughter, Johnny Medina (fiancée Rachel Collins), Antonio Medina, Tara Rollins (Matt), Michael Costello, Michaela, Mariah, and Marissa Shaffer, step-grandchildren Taylor and Jordan Krawchyk, and step-great-grandchildren, Selah and Gia. A step-grandson Kyle Krawchyk preceded her in death. She was affectionately called Sis by her eight siblings: Helen Shurilla, Betty Massie, Ann Kostelnik (deceased), Clara Rankin, Paul Katona, Joseph Katona (deceased), Steve Katona (deceased), and Mary Thompson, and many loving nieces and nephews. “Cil” enjoyed cooking for her family and was well known for her “thin” pancakes, a traditional Sunday breakfast, and her homemade wedding soup, which everyone looked forward to during the holidays. She also enjoyed dancing, crossword puzzles, card games, and scrabble, all of which she played with her grandchildren. Cil was a beautiful woman who selflessly gave her life to her family, creating a special bond with each and every one. Anyone who knew her always felt welcomed with open arms. She was an angel here on Earth and is now an angel in Heaven. Calling hours will be held at Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman, Friday, March 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. Prayers will be held at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, at the funeral home followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville. Interment services will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Poland. Family and friends may visit the Book of Memories at www.rossifunerals.com to view this tribute and send condolences to Cil’s family.
