Phillip Anthony Alfano Sr., 77
LOWELLVILLE - There will be funeral services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman, followed by a noon Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville for Phillip Anthony Alfano Sr., 77, who passed away on Wednesday, March 8, surrounded by his loving family.
Phillip was born Aug. 11, 1939, in Youngstown, the son of Joseph and Carmel (Pitzulo) Alfano.
He worked as administrator for the Village of Lowellville for 34 years and was also a licensed barber. He was an active member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church.
His wife and love of his life, the former Lenora Hull, whom he married Aug. 31, 1963, passed away July 9, 2012.
Phillip was a member of the Mt. Carmel Society for the past 55 years, Village Council member for six years, Youngstown Morra League, the Cursillo Club, and was a very big supporter of Lowellville athletics. He was also a member of American Legion Post No. 247 of Lowellville.
In his spare time, Phillip enjoyed cooking, especially spaghetti sauce, and making wine and peppers with his sons. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren who were his pride and joy.
Phillip will always be remembered lovingly by his five children, Carmelann (Wes) Maszczak, Joseph (Gina) Alfano, Phillip Jr. (Melissa) Alfano, James (Tonia) Alfano, and Michael (Carla) Alfano; 14 grandchildren, Kayla, Jake, Joey, Anthony, Phillip, Mia, Josh, Santino, Angela, Olivia, Evan, Sophia, Giuliana, and Michael Jr.; sister Marie DeSantis; brother Joe (Eleanor) Alfano; brother-in-law Angelo (Nancy) Hull; sister-in-law Melissa (Joe) Kalaman; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sadie Ziccardo; mother and father-in-law Edward and Vivian Hull; four brothers-in-law, Peter DeSantis, Tony Ziccardo, and Michael and Raymond Hull; and nephew George Hudzik III.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 10, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman, where the American Legion Post No. 247 of Lowellville will hold a service at 6 pm. and the Mt. Carmel Society will hold a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
