NORTH LIMA - There will be funeral services at 9 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Sorrows, 915 Cornell St. in Youngstown, with the Rev. John Jerek celebrating the Mass, for Gerald A. Vigliotti, 69, who passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 21.
He was born Aug. 15, 1947, in Youngstown, the son of Sylvester M. and Agnes (Lucansky) Vigliotti.
Gerald was a 1965 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He courageously served his country as a U.S. Navy CB “Sea Bee,” UT-3, E-4 from 1967 to 1970. During that time, he served two tours in Vietnam. He retired in 1996 as a general foreman from the Youngstown Street Department. Gerald was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Immacolata Council No. 15086, where he earned his third degree Knight and was also a member of the No. 2596 Assembly John Lettau, where he earned his fourth degree Knight.
Gerald was an avid reader and enjoyed westerns most of all. He enjoyed car shows and camping. The majority of his trips were shared with the love of his life, Carol in a 1975 VW camper around the country. He was always there for his family and friends.
Gerald will always and forever be remembered lovingly by his wife, the former Carol Cheff, whom he married May 30, 1970; his mother, Agnes; three sons, Anthony J. (Kathy) Vigliotti of Wexford, Pa., Michael A. (Therese) Vigliotti of Poland, and Gerald A. Jr. (Deegan) of Mayfield Village; special niece, Shari (Dennis) Gonatas of Boardman; seven grandchildren, Giana, Bella, Gabriel, Violet, Lola, Vincent, and Lucius; three sisters, Margie (Bob) Spirko, Jean Constance (fiancé Steve Mondak), and Judy Collins; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by brother Joseph Vigliotti; and brother-in-law Chris Collins.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, where full military honors for Gerald’s dedicated service to our country will be provided by the great men of V.F.W. Post No. 9571 of Ellsworth.
