Obituary for Steve Kirr

There will be a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 30, 2017, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Dr., in Boardman, for Steve Kirr, 74, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 26, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 2, 1942, in Vingard, Romania, the son of John and Katherine (Leister) Kirr. He came to the United States in 1963 from Transylvania. Steve worked at Ajax Tocco Magnethermic, retiring in 2009 after 42 years of service. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and a member of the Saxon Club for 53 years. Steve loved keeping busy. He enjoyed gardening, yard work, playing pool, music, dancing, watching boxing and Ohio State football, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He always said, "he was proud to be an American." Steve will always be remembered lovingly by his wife, the former Diane Wilder, whom he married October 3, 1970; three sons, Stefan (Nancy) Kirr, Michael (Lisa) Kirr, and Richard (Chi) Kirr; three grandchildren, Anneliese, Mallory, and Christian; and brother, John (Elizabeth) Kirr. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 29 at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman, and again from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at Bethel Lutheran Church prior to the service. Contributions may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church. Family and friends may visit the Book of Memories at www.rossifunerals.com to view this tribute and send condolences to Steve's family.
