There will be a 9 a.m. prayer service on Saturday December 31, 2016, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave. in Youngstown, with Rev. Edward Neroda celebrating the life of Genevieve "Jean" A. Orlando, 82, who passed away at home on Monday, December 26, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 28, 1934 in Youngstown, the daughter of Jacob and Amelia (Wolosyn) Brak. Jean was a graduate of North High School, and worked at Aero-Rad until she stayed at home to raise her family. Her husband, Samuel Orlando whom she married September 30, 1953, passed away January 18, 2007. She was of strong faith which she passed on to her family as she was a faithful member of St. Stanislaus Church and its Infant Jesus of Prague. She was also a member of St. John's Bocce League and Camelot Mixed Bowling League along with her husband. She enjoyed playing bingo, traveling to casinos, working in the garden, and planting flowers. Jean loved to cook and host dinner parties. Her family's favorite memories were of Jean bringing the whole family together for her home cooked meals. Jean will always be remembered lovingly by her 4 daughters, Deborah Orlando, with whom she made her home, Janice (Jack) Cartwright, Judy (Sam) Rossi, and Jackie (Mike) Giambattista; 8 grandchildren, Mark (Hannah) Cartwright, Megan (Tom) Key, Amy Cartwright, Nick (Cait) Shirilla, Lindsey (Will) Donohue, and Michael, Jamie, and Allison Giambattista; 4 great-grandchildren, Carter and Camden Cartwright, Myles Shirilla, and Ellie Jean Key; twin great-grandsons due in February; and a large extended loving family circle. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Brian Cartwright; son-in-law, Nicholas Shirilla; 3 brothers, Paul Pelic, and George and Stanley Brak; and 2 sisters, Natalie Faunda and Sophie Harris. The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Tejdeep Singh, Dr. David Hoffman, and Grace Hospice for the kind and compassionate care shown to Jean.
