Jose A. Gonzalez, 85
YOUNGSTOWN - There will be a funeral service at 9 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Christ the Good Shepherd at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave. in Campbell, with the Rev. Shawn Conoboy celebrating the life of Jose A. Gonzalez, 85, who passed away peacefully Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Sept. 13, 1931, in Utuado, Puerto Rico, the son of Manuel Gonzalez and Ana Perez.
He retired from Telegraph Press in Pennsylvania.
Jose was a member of Christ the Good Shepherd at St. Joseph the Provider Church. He enjoyed playing dominoes, inventing things, and playing the guitar during the holidays. He loved bringing people together, especially his family during the holidays.
Jose will always be remembered lovingly by his wife, the former Roselia Hernandez; 17 children, Fernando Gonzalez, Jose “Chieto” Gonzalez, Miguel Gonzalez, Cecilia Carter, Kathy Tambisis, Nina Wertz, Tina Gonzalez, Jose Gonzalez Jr., Norma Forteza, Ricardo Gonzalez, Jesus Gonzalez, Maria Solis, Adela Martinez, Juana Martinez, Angie Martinez, Blanca Martinez, and Noel Martinez; many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and 14 siblings, Victor, Ana Rosa, Eloina, Ruben, Delma, Elfrian, Hector, Delfin, Heriberto, Isabel, Adrian, Francisco, Carmen, and Zaida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman, followed by a 6 p.m. prayer service.
