Obituary for Anthony J. "Tabby" Tabachino

YOUNGSTOWN ­ There will be 9:15 a.m. funeral services on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman followed by a
10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Basilica in Youngstown, with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio celebrating the Mass for Anthony "Tabby" J. Tabachino, 89, who passed away Friday afternoon, Dec. 16.
Anthony was born July 27, 1927, in Youngstown, the son of Angelo and Antoinette M. (Manolino) Tabachino.
Tabby retired after thirty years in civil service with the Youngstown Police Department, captain with the Mahoning County Sheriff¹s Office, and commander of the Civil Division. He also owned and operated "Tabby's" Restaurant in Boardman. Tabby was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Basilica and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodges 141 and 28. He courageously served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a graduate of The Rayen School and played football at Youngstown College.
Tabby enjoyed being with his family and friends at his home. He enjoyed cooking, especially pizza and bbq ribs along with making homemade wine.
Tabby will be remembered lovingly by his son, Mark (Karen) Tabachino of Boardman; grandchildren Jia and Joseph Tabachino, Anthony and Alexa Bodine, and Michael and Nicole Tabachino; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Tabby was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah (Fiordelise), whom he married April 14, 1956; his parents; two sons, Anthony J. Jr. and Bobby Tabachino; grandson Angelo Tabachino; and two sisters, Ann Scali and Marie Ferraro.
Friends may call on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave.
The family would like to give a special thank you to all of his caregivers at home, and the staff at Hospice House for their compassion and care shown to Tabby during his illness.
