Obituary for Sandra "Sandi" A. (Popovich) Lellio

Sandra "Sandi" A. (Popovich) Lellio
Sandra “Sandi” A. (Popovich) Lellio, 74
LOWELLVILLE - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville, with the Rev. John Jerek celebrating the Mass for Sandra “Sandi” A. (Popovich) Lellio, 74, who passed away Friday evening, Jan. 29.
Sandi was born on July 12, 1941, in Youngstown, the daughter of Steve and Rose (Kucis) Popovich.
Sandi was a homemaker and worked from home as a dispatcher for the Lowellville Police Department. She then worked many years as secretary to the superintendent at Lowellville Local Schools. While working full-time, she earned her degree in Accounting from Youngstown State University. Sandi then became treasurer of Lowellville Schools until her retirement in 2001. She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church.
Sandi loved her family and embraced the Italian traditions by learning to speak Italian, cooking Italian dishes and making sauce, and baking homemade bread. Her love for her nieces and nephews was evident in the numerous blankets and hats that she crocheted for them. Her love and comic relief will be sadly missed by the entire family and hosts of friends.
Besides her husband, Donald J. Lellio Sr. whom she married Nov. 26, 1960, at St. Matthias Church, Sandi will be remembered lovingly by her sisters-in-law, Lucy Donofrio, Angeline Fuline, and Rose Cavalier; her brother-in-law, Andrew Lellio; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Besides her parents, Sandi was preceded in death and is now reunited with her beloved son, Donald J. Lellio, who passed away March 14, 1989; her brother, Edward Popovich; her nephew, Mark Cavalier; niece Mary Jane McCormick; great-nephew Chad Cavalier; sisters-in-law Rose Lellio, Mary Lellio, Virginia Marapese, and Nellie Lellio; and brothers-in-law Dominic Lellio, Joseph “Chic” Fuline, Ben Marapese, Frank J. Lellio Sr., Anthony "Tony" Donofrio, and John “Jack” Cavalier.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 1, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
Interment will take place at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cemetery.
