Poland– There will be funeral services at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Christ Our Savior Parish (St. Nicholas Church) in Struthers with Rev. Philip Rogers celebrating the Mass for Helen M. Vivo 97, who passed away peacefully Sunday, September 27, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Helen was born June 7, 1918 in Struthers, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Ondo) Tomocik. As a young woman, Helen worked as a waitress and a nanny. She then went on to work in the mill during WWII. Her husband, Steve V. Vivo whom she married August 12, 1939, passed away June 26, 1989. Helen was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish, its Altar and Rosary Society, and a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, playing bingo and going to Mountaineer Casino. Helen will always be remembered lovingly by her three children, Steve Vivo of Canfield, Betty Vivo-Campbell, with whom she shared her home; and Jim (Nancy) Vivo of New Middletown. Helen was blessed with 17 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren, with the 27th born on her 97th birthday. Besides her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by three sisters, Agnes Murray, Jennie Nestor, and Mary Johnson; and four brothers, John, Joey, Tony and Michael Tomocik. Friends may call on Wednesday, September 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Avenue in Boardman.
