Obituary for James J. "Wally" Willmitch

James J. “Wally” Willmitch, 85

YOUNGSTOWN – There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 27, 2015, at St. Christine Church in Youngstown with Rev. John Keehner celebrating, for James J. “Wally” Willmitch, 85, who passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.
James was born Oct. 14, 1929, in Youngstown, the son of Joseph and Mary (Pupino) Willmitch.
James was a 1949 graduate of Chaney High School and served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He retired in 1980, from the accounting office at U.S. Steel after 32 years of service. He also worked for 15 years in the accounting office at Astro Shapes, retiring in 1995. James was a member of St. Christine Church and was the treasurer of the Connie Mac Baseball tournament for several years. He was a loving grandfather and an avid fisherman who took great pride in taking his grandsons fishing.
James will always be lovingly remembered by his wife, the former Barbara Romeo, whom he married on Sept. 3, 1959; daughter Linda (Donald) Cutrer of Canfield; two grandsons, Donald and Dean; four extended grandsons, Clay, Ben, Conner, and Carson; many loving nieces and nephews; two sisters, Carmel Kozesky of Youngstown and Joann Willmitch of Austintown; and brother Robert Willmitch of Austintown.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Connie O’Nesti, Dolly Wylie and Geraldine “Jerry” Skidmore; brother Nicholas Willmitch; infant brother Joseph Willmitch; and nephew David Kozesky.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman, and again on Monday, April 27, at St. Christine Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
