John Ivancic, 89

CARROLLTON – There will be a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman, for John Ivancic, 89, who passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, following a lengthy illness.
John was born Feb. 6, 1924, in Ivanovec, Yugoslavia, the son of Stephen and Katarina (Toplek) Ivancic.
John lived in Duechlandburg, Austria, for 10 years before arriving in America in 1950. He then made his home in Youngstown for 53 years before moving to Carrollton in 2003.
John retired from Republic Steel after 31 years of service. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for many years.
His wife, the former Rose Sigler, whom he married on May 7, 1960, passed away Sept. 20, 2007.
John will always be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Kathy (Brian) Jacobson; three grandchildren, Katelyn Rose, William Allen and Corey John Jacobson; his sister, Maricha; two brothers, Duro and Franz of Croatia; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by seven siblings.
Friends may call on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to caregivers and Carroll Health Care and Carroll County Hospice for the compassionate care shown to John.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made in John’s name to the Alzheimer Association or Carroll County Hospice.
